A monthly open-mic series for poetry and prose lovers alike, sharing the art of spoken word under the ambience of a full moon. These nights are for sharing, listening, learning, evolving, and fully immersing ourselves in the magic.
What Does a Full Moon Represent?
The Full Moon is a time of culmination, illumination, and heightened energy—the peak of the lunar cycle. It brings things into full view, revealing clarity and emotion. In literature and storytelling, the Full Moon is often associated with revelations and the manifestation of creative ideas.
How It Works:
The event is one hour long and there are six confirmed reading slots available per night and two waitlist spots in case of extra time or (gasp) no-shows. [all waitlist-signees should plan to attend the Open Mic night]
Each reader may share 3-4 poems or a prose excerpt (600-1,000 words) aiming somewhere between 4-7 minutes of reading time. [please provide necessary context before any prose excerpt readings, as not to exclude your listeners—budget this in your time]
Open to all styles of poetry and prose—bring your best work!
These are public events, so feel free to share the zoom-links and invite family & friends to join and support.
We begin each event with a quick introduction to that month’s full moon and how its energy influences with our theme. Then a Special Guest Reader will kickoff our night, sharing a reading or two, and insight into their creative process. Then each reader, in turn, will be introduced and begin their reading.
When you sign up please submit a intro-bio that can be read in 1-2 minutes.
New Moon Bonus: The New Moon occurs about two weeks before a Full Moon, & represents intention and planting seeds. As an added bonus, we encourage open mic readers to begin drafting one of their pieces on the New Moon.

Theme: Innovation & Community – The intersection of creativity, intelligence collaboration, humanitarianism, the future, science fiction, aliens, and pushing boundaries.
🌕 September 7 – Full Moon & Lunar Eclipse in Pisces
Theme: Dreams & Intuition – A night dedicated dreamlike states, to lovers, to the subconscious, the sensitive, spirituality, and imaginative realms.
🌕 October 6 – Full Moon in Aries
Theme: Courage & Beginnings – Pieces about fire, taking risks, action, fighting, starting anew, bravery, and stepping into the unknown.
🌕 November 5 – Full Moon in Taurus
Theme: Sensuality & Stability – A celebration of home, luxury, sensory details, nature, earth, ecology, environmentalism and grounding influences.
🌕 December 4 – Full Moon in Gemini
Theme: Communication & Curiosity – Stories and poetry that explore dialogue, that bring unexpected twists, of duality, polarity, learning, and the exchange of ideas, community, popularity.
Note: Dates are based on the 2025 Full Moon schedule, and themes are open to interpretation.
🌕 Tips for a Strong Reading:
Provide Context: If your excerpt is from a longer work, give a brief (one or two sentence) introduction so the audience understands the setting or characters.
Start Strong: Start with your best work, and think about your sequential choices as a mini-spoken chapbook.
Practice Timing: Time yourself, aiming for 4-7 minutes of reading time (approx. 600-1,000 words). Reading too fast can lose the audience, so practice keeping a steady pace.
