Being an artist, especially full time, can feel like tossing leaves into a well and waiting to hear the splash. But donβt worry youβll make an impact eventually if you keep going. βNJ
What happens in the margins of our asserted plans often holds more influence that we recognize.
In the Margins is a new monthly live series Iβm hosting for writers, dreamers, and creatives. Each session will be a conversation around marginal activities occurring while we are working on our overarching plot: Careers, dreams, WIPS, and personal goals. The synchronicities. The decisions no one saw us make. Theses are the moments that shape the work.
We will meet once a month. Sometimes Iβll be by the sea, sometimes backstage at a conference, sometimes right where chaos met me that day. Most sessions will be planned and include:
A reflection or poem (sometimes unpublished, sometimes in-progress)
A prompt
A space to breathe, listen, learn, and reconnect.
These are not high-energy, pitchy lives. Theyβre calm, pensive, and peaceful.
Upcoming Live Sessions
April 26th: Inspiration at the Edge β live from The Bahamas
Four months ago, I stood by the sea and decided to change my life. On April 26th, Iβm going live from the same place where I chose clarity and wrote a poem in the moment that will forever hold that decision in itβs margins: Saving Breakers. Join me In the Marginsβa Substack Live session on writing from liminal spaces, making powerful decisions, and finding meaning in the scribble.
Iβll read the poem (Saving Breakers), discuss how this place became a pivot point in my career, and offer a prompt to stir your own edges. Bring your journal, or just your attention.
May 2nd: Networking & My first Book Fair β live from Atlanta Writers Conference
Writing is often a solitary actβbut publishing never is. For May, In the Margins session, Iβll be going live a few times from AWC to talk about the moments between the panels, the quiet conversations, and the unexpected mentorships that shape a writerβs journey.
Are you preparing to publish? or still in the messy middle? Just curious? This oneβs for you. Tune in for insight, reflection, and a prompt to help you map your literary constellation.
May 8th: Overcoming Writers Block β live with from the East Coast.
Matt has a trained eye for the stumbling blocks that hinder us from growing or living in our purpose with peace and to our full strength. Together we will be chatting specifically about writers block, and how in many ways it is misnomer, and how it can usually resolved by recognizing and identifying the cause.
