In a world where we’re more connected than ever, I somehow feel increasingly disconnected, and it’s depressing. The impact from virtual experiences; such as, social media, television, gaming are a creeping influence into our subconscious on how we view the physical world—one we are collectively becoming strangers too. We start to see the real world synonymously with the construct of curated media and agendas (and don’t even get me started on bots—or do, but bring snacks). The idea of "living locally" might seem like a quaint relic of the past, but because we create our own reality through the power of choice, it doesn’t have to be that way. Like anything else, small, consistent changes create big waves collectively and can lead to more fulfillment or even peace in our modern lives.
